If you are an institution preserving cultural property and wish to export parts of your holdings from Germany to third countries on a regular and temporary basis, you can apply for a general open license for the export of cultural property to third countries.

As an institution preserving cultural property, you have the option of applying for a general open license for the export of cultural property to third countries. These are all countries that are not member states of the European Union (EU). This permit is particularly recommended if you frequently
The general open license can be granted for a maximum of 5 years.
You can apply for a general open license from the competent authority of the federal state in which your institution is headquartered.
You can apply for a permit for the temporary export of cultural property in writing, online or hybrid.

EUR 25 to 250 (current No. 3.III.1 of the Schedule of Costs under the Costs Act)As an institution preserving cultural property, you can also apply for a general open license for regular exports to EU member states.
