Procedure details

In Bavaria, you can assert your right to freedom of information either via Art. 39 of the Bavarian Data Protection Act (general right to information), via Art. 3 of the Bavarian Environmental Information Act or via Section 2 of the Consumer Information Act.

The information can be provided, for example, by means of an information meeting, inspection of files or records, the provision of data carriers, copies or electronic provision.

These rights to freedom of information do not apply to information regarding your personal data. Further information on this can be found under "Related topics" under "Data protection; assertion of data subject rights".

In particular, information in accordance with Art. 39 BayDSG can only be provided if you can credibly demonstrate a legitimate interest that is not directed towards further use in return for payment and can be of a legal, economic or non-material nature. Information can be refused if, for example, public or private interests conflict with this.

You can submit the application directly to the relevant authority. In the application, you must indicate which information you would like access to.

Costs are charged for information in accordance with the Costs Act. You will be informed of the details during processing.
