Procedure details

Purpose

The funding is intended to support the operation of sports work groups (SAG) as a voluntary, qualified joint offer from schools and sports clubs to supplement compulsory sports lessons and thus create an incentive for pupils to take part in various sports.

With the support program, which is also known as "Sport after 1", the Ministry of Education and the Bavarian State Sports Association set out in 1991 to provide pupils with a qualified sports offer in the afternoon to supplement their physical education lessons through cooperation between schools and sports clubs. To this end, sports clubs conclude a contract with a school interested in cooperating to run a SAG. The SAG should consist of at least 10 pupils. It is led by qualified trainers from the sports clubs or by teachers.

Object

Once the SAG contract has been concluded, the sports club can apply for an additional, lump-sum state grant in addition to the club lump sum, a so-called SAG lump sum.

Beneficiaries

Sports clubs are eligible for funding.

Type and amount

The amount of the lump sum depends on the budget funds available and the number of SAGs set up throughout Bavaria. For the 2019/2020 school year, the Free State of Bavaria strengthened the Bavarian cooperation model "Sport-after-1 in schools and clubs" and increased the SAG lump sum as a special sign of appreciation for the voluntary work carried out in sports clubs. In the previous school year 2024/2025, the SAG lump sum amounted to € 130 for 35-38 school year lessons (1 hour (45 minutes each) / school week) and € 260 for 70-76 school year lessons (2 hours (90 minutes each) / school week).

A contract between the sports club and the participating school regarding the establishment of a SAG must be submitted by October 31 of each year and an application for payment of the SAG lump sum must be submitted (cut-off deadline!).

  • Contract between school and club for each new sports work group
  • Follow-up contract for each continuing sports work group

Once the SAG contract has been concluded between the club and the school, the SAG lump sum can only be applied for online at the State Office for School Sports.

none

The application must be submitted by October 31 at the latest for the respective school year (cut-off deadline!).

approx. eight weeks

Sports clubs are school events. This means that the participating pupils are insured against physical injury under the statutory school accident insurance. Membership of a sports club is not required.

There are currently 81 sports on offer as part of the support program. Further sports can be applied for via the respective sports association of the Bavarian State Sports Association, provided that an appropriate number of cooperations in this sport can be expected.

Contradiction
  • Appeal procedure (optional); lodging an appeal

If the objection has no suspensive effect, an application for suspension of enforcement can be made to the original authority or the objection authority in accordance with Section 80 (4) VwGO. Instead, an application for an order or restoration of the suspensive effect of the objection can be made to the competent Bavarian Administrative Court in accordance with Section 80 (5) VwGO.

Please note: If it concerns the demand for public charges and costs (§ 80 Para. 2 Sentence 1 No. 1 VwGO), an application to the court is generally only admissible if the authority has previously rejected an application for suspension of enforcement (§ 80 Para. 6 VwGO).
