Bavarian schools operate at a high level of quality, as national and international comparative studies have repeatedly shown. A range of measures ensure and further develop this level both at the level of the individual school and the school system as a whole.

A variety of instruments serve this purpose, in particular the binding curricula, central final examinations, internal school development, the educational standards of the Standing Conference, regular participation in national (e.g. IQB-Bildungstrend) and international school performance studies (e.g. TIMMS, PISA and IGLU) as well as internal and external evaluation at schools.
