The Bavarian Open Data Portal, open.bydata, is the central gateway to open data—particularly administrative data—in Bavaria.
The Bavarian Open Data Portal, open.bydata, is the central hub for open data in Bavaria. open.bydata’s vision is to create a better Bavaria through data. To achieve this, the open.bydata Competence Center operates in the following areas:
Business and academia, as well as interested citizens and public administration staff, have free access to open government data through open.bydata. The datasets can be processed, shared, and reused.
To enable quick discovery of the datasets, each one is described using metadata. In addition to a title and description, the dataset can be tagged with keywords and categories, for example, as well as additional information such as the license for reuse or the file format in which the dataset is available. The actual data can then be downloaded directly from the portal in the selected format.
You’ll find the search function under the “Search” tab. You can enter your search term directly into the search field and use the filter options on the left (e.g., by data format) to narrow your search. The search results will display a list of datasets containing the search term. After selecting the desired dataset, you will receive additional information about it and can retrieve the data in the available format.
In addition, there are several interfaces that enable automated use. These allow the descriptions and the data itself to be retrieved and analyzed easily, securely, and continuously. This is particularly relevant for business and research.
For data providers and secondary users, the open bydata competence center offers a wide range of offerings and services:
