If you are moving to an inland waterway vessel, you must register. As the owner of an ocean-going vessel, you must register and deregister the captain and crew members.
Anyone moving onto an inland waterway vessel that is registered in a shipping register in the Federal Republic of Germany must register with the registration authority in the place where the vessel's home port is located. The provisions on the general obligation to register and the obligation of the person obliged to register to provide information apply accordingly. The obligation to register does not apply as long as the person is registered for a residence in Germany. Registration and deregistration can also be carried out with another registration authority or with the water police, which will forward the data to the competent registration authority.
The owner of a seagoing vessel that is entitled to fly the federal flag must register the master and the crew members of the vessel at the beginning of the employment, employment or training relationship. He must deregister these persons when the employment, employment or training relationship ends. The registration authority at the registered office of the shipowner is responsible. The obligation to register does not apply to persons who are registered for a residence in Germany. The persons to be registered must provide the shipowner with the necessary information.
The registration authority of the place where the ship's home port is located is responsible for registration. Registration and deregistration must take place within two weeks of moving in.
You can have your data blocked in the registration register by the registration authority (information block). In certain cases, you can object to the transfer of your registration data (transfer block).
When you move out of your home, you are obliged to deregister with the relevant registration authority (municipality or city) within two weeks, unless you move into a new home in Germany.
If you move into an apartment, you must register with the relevant registration authority (municipality, town or administrative community) within two weeks of moving in.
If you have and live in several apartments in Germany, one apartment is your main residence and all other apartments are secondary residences. You must inform the registration office which apartments you have and which of them is your main or secondary residence.
