A wide range of measures are specifically geared towards supporting particularly gifted pupils and include measures to shorten school careers (acceleration) as well as additional activities that go beyond the classroom (enrichment). Other important components in the promotion of gifted children and young people are the counseling of particularly gifted children and young people and their legal guardians by appropriate specialist staff and the anchoring of the topic in teacher training and further education. Counseling for particularly gifted students and their legal guardians is provided at the school by the respective class teacher and subject teachers. At each school, guidance teachers and school psychologists can also be involved as contact persons. In addition, a total of nine state school counseling centers are located in the administrative districts, where particularly experienced counseling teachers and school psychologists are available to answer questions about giftedness and diagnostics.
The counseling services offered by the state school counseling centers include
The brochure "Finding and supporting gifted children - a guide for parents, educators and teachers" published by the former Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), which is aimed primarily at parents and teachers, and the guide "Finding and supporting special talents at secondary schools" published by the State Institute for School Quality and Educational Research Munich (ISB) provide initial information on the subject (see "Related links").
Young graduates of vocational training can receive grants towards the costs of demanding, subject-related, vocational or cross-occupational further training measures.
