Technical systems that pose a particular risk to employees and the general public are considered to require monitoring. Possible cases of damage are, for example, explosions of steam boilers or pressure vessels, fires in chemical plants and warehouses or elevator falls. These must be avoided.
For this reason, the law on systems requiring monitoring and the Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health contains, among other things, specifications on the necessary inspections, some of which must be carried out before commissioning, at regular intervals, after conversions or accidents. Depending on the type of system, a permit from the trade supervisory office is also required before commissioning.
The details are regulated in the law on systems requiring monitoring and in the Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health. The trade supervisory office monitors compliance with these requirements
