Procedure details

The implementation of application-related research and development projects is one of the statutory tasks of HaW/TH. This is an important element in the transfer of knowledge and technology, especially to small and medium-sized companies in the region, from which everyone involved benefits: The companies through increasing innovative strength and competitiveness, the universities through closer ties to practice and the students through practice-oriented training at the cutting edge of development.

Further information on the range of applied research and development is available on the websites of the respective universities (see links to further information). The knowledge and technology transfer offices of the universities of applied sciences are available as contacts for interested companies (see links to further information).

Since 2009, technology transfer centers have been set up at the HaW/TH, which are based on the economic structure of the region and are intended to strengthen technology transfer from applied research and development at the university to companies in the region. In the meantime, 52 such centers have been established or are currently being set up at university or university-related locations. State funding is made available for up to 5 years with the expectation that these centers will then be largely self-supporting. Accommodation is provided by a third party (region, industry, municipality). Following a successful evaluation at the end of the start-up phase, further state funding can be provided in the form of basic funding.

HaW/TH carry out application-related research and development projects within the framework of the available equipment - which also includes third-party funding. Since 2008, applied research at HaW/TH has also been supported by funding programs from the State Ministry of Science and the Arts.

Remuneration is agreed for application-related research and development projects carried out by HaW/TH on behalf of companies.
