Procedure details

Anyone operating X-ray equipment or an interfering source must have it inspected by an officially appointed expert in accordance with Section 172 of the Radiation Protection Act prior to commissioning, in the event of significant changes and at five-year intervals. The expert must draw up a test report and, if applicable, a certificate on the test. The original is given to the operator, a copy is sent to the supervisory authority responsible for the operator.

The expert must send a copy of the test report to the supervisory authority responsible for the radiation protection officer within 4 weeks. This obligation also applies to the expert in the case of tests as part of the notification procedure for the operation or modification of the operation of an X-ray device or an interfering source.

With this upload assistant, experts can upload the test reports they have created promptly and in compliance with data protection regulations and then send them directly to the competent authority. It is no longer necessary to print out these reports and send them by post. Compared to sending them by e-mail, the advantage is that the transmission is legally secure and complies with data protection regulations. In addition, the sender receives an email confirming the successful transmission of the test reports.

The test reports must have been prepared by the officially appointed expert in accordance with § 172 of the Radiation Protection Act.

  • As a rule, the following documents must be enclosed with the notification:

Inspection, testing, maintenance and repair of X-ray equipment or interfering radiators (also in the context of manufacture - activities in accordance with § 22 StrlSchG)

    • Proof of the expertise of the person responsible for radiation protection or the radiation protection officer
    • Proof of the necessary knowledge and skills of all persons entrusted with activities in accordance with § 22 StrlSchG.
    • Proof that the equipment and protective measures for activities in accordance with § 22 StrlSchG are available
    • Proof of sufficiently appointed radiation protection officers and their authority to issue instructions

Employment of persons in connection with the operation of third-party X-ray equipment or sources of interference - Activities in accordance with Section 26 StrlSchG

    • Proof of the expertise of the radiation protection officer or radiation protection officers
    • Proof of the necessary knowledge and skills of all persons entrusted with activities in accordance with § 22 StrlSchG.
    • Proof that the persons employed in connection with the operation of the external X-ray equipment or the external source of interference must follow the instructions of the radiation protection officers and radiation protection officers there

Experts can use the online procedure provided (see "Online procedure") to upload the test reports they have prepared promptly and in compliance with data protection regulations in order to then send them directly to the competent authority.

  • The inspection reports must be in PDF format.
  • After entering the name and address of the operator/operating site of the X-ray facility, the competent authority is determined.
  • After sending to the authority, the sender receives an e-mail confirming the successful transmission of the test reports.

Please note: It is not possible for operators outside Bavaria to send the test reports to the competent authority electronically. However, it is possible to determine the competent authority immediately by entering the zip code via a link, thus simplifying the sometimes time-consuming search for the experts.
