One of the most important tasks of the Ministry of Finance is to prepare the budget for the entire state sector. The draft state budget, i.e. the expected revenue and expenditure for the respective financial year, is prepared in detailed negotiations with the other departments and then forwarded to the state parliament after the state government has passed a resolution. The Ministry of Finance is responsible for monitoring the implementation of the budget and preparing the budget accounts after the end of the financial year, as well as commenting on all draft laws and ordinances of the state government that affect the state budget. Multi-year financial planning and the procurement of loans are further tasks that are closely linked to state revenue and expenditure.
