Radiation protection officers can request that instruction in radiation protection be authorized through the use of e-learning courses or audiovisual media.
Anyone operating X-ray equipment or an interfering source must instruct their employees in accordance with Section 63 of the Radiation Protection Ordinance. The instruction must include information on
This instruction must be given orally. However, the competent authority may, upon request, allow the instruction to be carried out with the aid of e-learning courses or audiovisual media if the operational circumstances so require.
The following requirements are generally necessary for the approval of the instruction:
The application must be submitted digitally to the X-ray Competence Center of the Trade Supervisory Office at the Government of Lower Franconia. It is therefore no longer necessary to submit the application by post or e-mail. The sender also receives confirmation that the application has been successfully submitted.
After checking the submitted documents and, if necessary, requesting further information, the authority decides whether to approve the application and informs the applicant accordingly.

The application for approval of e-learning courses or audiovisual media for the provision of instruction in accordance with Section 63 (3) sentence 3 of the Radiation Protection Ordinance can only be submitted via the online procedure for companies or company locations in Bavaria.
