Flight, duty and rest times

You require approval from the German Federal Aviation Authority (LBA) for the initial introduction (first application) and amendment (subsequent application) of flight, duty and rest times.

When introducing flight, duty and rest times for the first time (initial application), approval is required for the Organization Management Manual (OMM) Fatigue Risk Management System (FRM/FRMS) to be integrated in the Operations Manual Part A (OM-A). This applies to planned flight services that require Fatigue Risk Management (FRM).

For a subsequent application, you require approval for the OMM-Fatigue Risk Management System (FRM/FRMS) to be integrated in the OM-A for

  • planned flight services that require Fatigue Risk Management (FRM),

As a Commercial Air Transport Operator (CAT), you as an organization can apply for the following in the area of flight, duty and rest times for aircraft or report the following in the area of commander decisions:

  • Approval of the revision of flight, duty and rest times
  • Approval of the OMM Fatigue Risk Management System (FRM/FRMS) as part of the initial approval of flight, duty and rest periods
