Procedure details

An electoral challenge may be filed against the final result announced by the election committee up to 14 days after the announcement if electoral regulations were violated during the preparation or conduct of the elections (Art. 51 GLKrWG).

An election challenge may be submitted by any person entitled to vote in the constituency and by any candidate listed in an approved election proposal.

The election challenge must be signed personally and by hand and submitted in the original to the responsible legal supervisory authority. The responsible legal supervisory authority is the district administration office for municipalities belonging to a district and the government for municipalities and districts not belonging to a district.

The proceedings are free of charge (Art. 3 No. 12 Costs Act).
