The Telekolleg is an offer of the Second Educational Pathway of the Ministries of Education in Bavaria and Brandenburg together with the Bayerischer Rundfunk. The Telekolleg is a combination of self-study and classroom teaching. The government commissions the necessary teachers for the lessons, which take place approximately every two weeks on Saturday mornings.

As a rule, these are full-time teachers who receive an additional teaching assignment from the government for their involvement in the telecollege. The telecollege group leaders use the form "Antrag auf Regelung des Dienstverhältnisses für Lehrkräfte, die beim Telekolleg mitwirken" under "Forms" to apply for the conclusion of the teaching assignment or the conclusion of an employment contract. The governments draw up the teaching assignment or employment contract.

At the end of a trimester, the services are invoiced using the form "Application for remuneration within the framework of the Telekolleg" under "Forms". The teaching hours, supervision hours, the preparation of examination papers, participation in oral examinations and teacher conferences as well as the correction of examination papers confirmed by the college group leader are eligible for remuneration.

The services are provided by the governments if the telecollege teacher has actually performed the tasks confirmed by the telecollege group leader.

The telecollege group leader submits the necessary application forms to the government, where they are processed and payment of the allowance is arranged after the end of the term.
