Procedure details

With the quota for the public health service (ÖGD quota), up to 1.8% of all medical study places available at Bavarian faculties are awarded each year to applicants who demonstrate a particular interest in working in the public health service.

Different criteria apply for admission via the ÖGD quota than for the central admission procedure for studying human medicine via the Foundation for University Admissions. Admission to study is only granted at universities in Bavaria. When allocating study places, the universities of your choice will be considered in the order in which you entered them in your application. The allocation of available study places is based on your place in the final ranking list. The higher up you are in the ranking list, the more likely you are to be allocated to the university of your choice.

You can study at all five Bavarian universities that offer human medicine courses. These are:

  • University of Augsburg,
  • Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg,
  • University of Regensburg and the University of Regensburg/Lower Bavaria Medical Campus,
  • Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg/Medizincampus Oberfranken, Bayreuth and
  • Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München/Technische Universität München.

Before applying, you should check whether you meet the requirements and, if necessary, provide evidence of other relevant achievements or qualifications.

Amandatory requirement for an application is

  • the existence of a university entrance qualification.

The following criteria are optional and not mandatory for an application:

  • Study aptitude test,
  • health profession and
  • voluntary or honorary activity.

The more criteria you fulfill, the more points you can receive in the first selection stage.

  • User ID of the Foundation for University Admissions

In order to receive this user ID, please register in advance on the information and application portal for studying at German universities of the Foundation for University Admissions (see under "Further links"). Registration in the dialog-oriented service procedure (DoSV) is mandatory before applying for the quota for the public health service in order to receive the applicant ID.

  • University entrance qualification

The application procedure for study places in human medicine within the framework of the Bavarian State and Medical Officers Act (BayLArztG) can only be carried out in the following way:
