The Free State of Bavaria grants subsidies to local authorities to strengthen needs-based and needs-oriented care in the local social environment and for the creation, expansion and operation of coordination centers.

The purpose of the grant is to ensure long-term nursing care for individuals in their familiar surroundings in the municipalities, to maintain independence and to enable participation.
The Free State of Bavaria supports projects that serve to design and implement measures in the local social environment and benefit people in need of care within the meaning of the Eleventh Book of the German Social Code (SGB XI), people at risk of needing care and their relatives in order to strengthen home care. Projects for networking care services can also be funded.
Necessary personnel and non-investment-related material expenses are eligible for funding. Personnel expenses are eligible for funding up to salary group A11, or a comparable salary group in the case of employees.
The funding is granted as a subsidy.
The type of grant is a project grant.
For financially weak municipalities with 50 or more recipients of care insurance benefits per 1,000 inhabitants, the grant amounts to up to 90% of the eligible expenditure,
for municipalities with 50 or more recipients of long-term care insurance per 1,000 inhabitants, the grant amounts to up to 80% of the eligible expenditure and
for municipalities with fewer than 50 recipients of long-term care insurance per 1,000 inhabitants, the grant amounts to up to 70% of the eligible expenditure.
For municipalities that are not financially weak, the funding rate is reduced by 10% from the fourth year after approval is granted.
Municipalities are considered financially weak if their financial strength in the previous year of application was less than 85% of the average municipality size class.
Local authorities are eligible to apply.
Exclusion criteria:
Projects that have already begun are excluded from funding.
The application for funding must be signed and submitted to the Bavarian State Office for Nursing.
Decisions on the applications received by March 1 and September 1 will be made after these deadlines at our discretion and within the limits of the available budget. When selecting projects, they are prioritized according to the following points

There are no costs.
The application must be submitted by 01.03.2026. Decisions on the applications received will be made after the cut-off dates of March 1 and September 1 of each year. The date of receipt is decisive.
A processing time of 3 month(s) to 6 month(s) is to be expected.
It should be noted that there is no entitlement to funding under grant law.
The Free State of Bavaria promotes the acquisition of digital and technical equipment in care facilities.
Municipalities, project sponsors, associations, housing companies and other interested parties can obtain information and individual advice on assisted living communities, day care or innovative forms of living and care.
As part of the "Self-determined living in old age - SeLA" directive, the Free State of Bavaria promotes the development of housing and support measures for self-determined living in old age.
