The lower road traffic authorities (district administrations, independent municipalities and large district towns) can grant parking concessions to craft businesses, commercial agents and social service workers for a maximum period of three years on application, subject to certain conditions. This may be the case, for example, if the vehicle is used as a workshop vehicle or to transport tools or materials or is absolutely necessary due to urgency or to carry out a support activity and no other parking space is available within a reasonable distance.
As proof of authorization, the authority issues an orange parking permit with the inscription ''Handwerker'', ''Handelsverteter'' or ''Sozialer Dienst''.
