Procedure details

Hobby plantings must be reported to the Bavarian State Institute for Viticulture and Horticulture (LWG). Several hobby plantings are to be counted together.

The obligation to notify also applies to the grubbing up of such a plantation and the change of manager and must be reported using the notification form "Vineyards up to 1,000 m² not subject to approval". The grubbing up of such hobby vineyards does not result in any replanting rights for vines. Rather, the special regulation on hobby vineyards is used again when clearing and replanting the hobby vineyard.

The planting or replanting of areas whose wines or wine-growing products are intended exclusively for consumption in the wine producer's household is also possible without authorization for vine planting if the following conditions are met:

  • the area must not exceed 0.1 ha (all other such areas belonging to the same beneficial owner must also be taken into account) and
  • the wine producer in question does not produce wine or other wine products for commercial purposes.

Hobby plantings must be reported to the Bavarian State Institute for Viticulture and Horticulture together with an extract from the parcel map in which the extent of the planting is marked.

The planting or replanting of areas must be notified to the competent authority by May 31 following the planting or replanting.
