You must apply for an ammunition purchase certificate if you wish to purchase or possess ammunition for a weapon that is not registered in the gun ownership card.
The ammunition purchase permit is issued for a specific type of ammunition if this cannot be entered in a gun ownership card. Notwithstanding this, ammunition collectors or experts can have a collection or specialty area entered.
The ammunition purchase certificate is limited to a period of six years for the purchase of the ammunition, but is then valid indefinitely for the possession of the ammunition.
For the storage of ammunition, at least one safety container without classification made of sheet steel with a swing bolt lock or equivalent is required.
You must prove that you have sufficient knowledge of weapons and ammunition and how to handle them (expertise).
In order to be able to prove your expertise in handling weapons and ammunition, you must have taken part in an appropriate training course. The course comprises a theoretical and practical part. At the end of the course, you will take an examination before an authorized examination board. If you pass the examination, you will receive proof of the weapons and ammunition for which you have acquired the certificate of competence.
You must apply for the ammunition purchase permit from the relevant firearms authority.
