Procedure details

Training allowance for people with disabilities and people with severe disabilities or equivalent status

As a rule, you will receive the training allowance for the entire duration of your training or further education.

The amount of the grant is determined on an individual basis and depends on the type and severity of the disability and the impact of the disability on the training or further training.

The allowance is paid monthly and amounts to up to 60 percent of the monthly training allowance for the last year of training or further training, including the employer's flat-rate contribution to the total social security contribution. In justified exceptional cases, subsidies can be provided up to the amount of the training allowance for the last year of training.

All company measures that involve and focus on vocational training or qualifications for people with disabilities or severely disabled people can be funded. This also includes dual courses of study, for example, if these include a vocational qualification in accordance with the Vocational Training Act.

Your job center will decide whether you can receive the training allowance. There is no legal entitlement to a subsidy.

Integration subsidy following initial or further training

If you employ a severely disabled person after completing initial or further training funded by a training allowance, the Jobcenter can pay you an integration allowance.

The integration subsidy amounts to up to 70 percent of the salary and can be paid out for 1 year.

However, the specific amount is at the discretion of the Jobcenter.

The job center in whose district the employable person entitled to benefits has his or her habitual residence is responsible. The job center is also responsible for existing employment relationships if top-up benefits are granted in accordance with the Second Book of the German Social Code.

The prerequisite for the training allowance is

  • that training or further training cannot be achieved without this subsidy,
  • that there is an aptitude for the desired training or further training occupation,
  • there is a signed training or further training contract with the company,
  • that a training allowance, wage or salary is paid,
  • in the case of people with disabilities, the Federal Employment Agency is the responsible rehabilitation agency.

The prerequisite for the integration grant is

  • that an employment contract exists following successful completion of in-company training or further training and
  • that this initial or further training was supported with a training allowance for severely disabled people.

  • Required document/s
    • Signed training or further training contract (for training allowance)

    • Severely disabled person's pass, if applicable
    • If applicable, notification of the degree of disability and/or equality notice
