The Free State of Bavaria supports open all-day programs at schools. Open all-day programs are approved upon application by the school authority.

However, Bavaria is not only sending out a socio-political signal with all-day schools, but is above all focusing on educational goals. All-day school is an educational offer with a distinct quality of content. More time is available for extended educational and support opportunities. All-day schools in Bavaria are committed to the triad of education, upbringing and care.
The Free State of Bavaria provides funding to cover additional personnel costs for open all-day programs at state and municipal schools as well as independent schools.
The funding will be paid out to the school or cooperation partner.
The funding is granted as a subsidy.
Depending on the type of school, the grant per open all-day group (until 4 p.m.) and school year currently amounts to between 29,182.00 and 47,149.00 euros at municipal schools and independent schools. State schools receive a budget of between EUR 37,250.00 and EUR 55,217.00 per group and school year, including a municipal co-financing lump sum of currently EUR 8,068.00.
Short groups in the open all-day program (grades 1-4) at municipal schools and independent schools are funded with an amount of EUR 7,346.00. Short groups in the open all-day program at state schools receive a budget of 14,692.00 euros, which also includes a share of 7,346.00 euros from the material expenditure provider.

The application for the establishment of an open all-day program must be prepared by the school management. The application must be submitted by the school (cost) provider to the responsible government by the application deadline set each year for the following school year - in the case of elementary school and secondary schools via the state education authorities or via the offices of the ministerial representatives in the case of secondary schools and grammar schools, and directly in the case of business schools and special schools.
The state education authorities and offices of the ministerial commissioners forward the applications to the responsible government.
The governments are responsible, among other things, for approving and authorizing the open all-day offer, for paying out the funding and checking the proof of use.
The application date is announced as part of the annual application and approval process.
