Procedure details

Purpose

In order to enable mothers and fathers to reconcile family and career as well as appropriate forms of family division of labor, all-day schools offer families not only care, but also educational support. However, Bavaria is not only sending out a socio-political signal with all-day schools, but is above all focusing on educational goals. All-day school is an educational offer with a distinct quality of content. More time is available for extended educational and support opportunities. All-day schools in Bavaria are committed to the triad of education, upbringing and care.

Object

The Free State of Bavaria provides weekly teaching hours and/or funding to cover the additional personnel costs for tied all-day programs at state and municipal schools as well as independent schools.

Recipient of funding

The funding is paid to the school expenditure provider, school authority or cooperation partner.

Eligible costs

  • Personnel costs (teachers and, if applicable, support staff) as part of all-day operation.
  • Budget funds per class to cover the additional operating costs of all-day schooling.

Type and amount

The funding is granted as a subsidy.

Depending on the type of school, the grant per bound all-day class and school year is currently between 29,182.00 and 47,149.00 euros at municipal schools and independent schools. In addition to the teacher hours per week, state schools receive a budget of between EUR 9,695.00 and 29,178.00 per class and school year, which includes a municipal co-financing allowance of currently EUR 8,068.00.

The funding of a tied all-day program requires, among other things, that

  • an all-day education and care program is provided on at least four weekdays of each full teaching week with a continuous structured stay at the school until 4 p.m. and for at least 7.5 hours per day, which is compulsory for pupils on all four days of the week,
  • the morning and afternoon activities of the pupils are conceptually linked,
  • the lessons are taught in a separate all-day class in a rhythmized form and that the education and care offer is organized and carried out under the supervision and responsibility of the school management.

The other requirements for approval can be found in the respective announcement from the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs and in the documents for the annual application process.

  • Required document/s
    • Pedagogical all-day concept
    • Draft timetable with marking of the additional teaching hours per week

The application for the establishment and funding of a tied all-day program must be prepared by the school management. The application must be submitted by the school (cost) provider to the responsible government by the annual application deadline for the following school year - in the case of elementary school and secondary schools via the state education authorities or via the offices of the ministerial representatives in the case of secondary schools and grammar schools, and directly in the case of business schools and special schools.

The state education authorities and offices of the ministerial commissioners forward the applications to the responsible government.

The governments are responsible, among other things, for approving and authorizing the tied all-day offer, for paying out the funding and checking the proof of use.

There are no costs.

The application date is announced as part of the annual application and approval process.
