The Free State of Bavaria supports Bavarian municipalities and voluntary aid organizations in the procurement of disaster control equipment with state grants.
The purpose of the grants is to improve the beneficiaries' equipment for disaster prevention.
Funding is provided for disaster control equipment (command vehicles, roll-off containers, rapid deployment/multi-purpose tents, multi-purpose boats, stationary sirens, mobile loudspeaker and siren systems, bag filling systems and oil spill response equipment) for special emergency situations of supra-regional significance such as counter-terrorism, NBC protection, flood protection and mass casualty incidents.
Local authorities and voluntary aid organizations (ASB, BRK, DLRG, JUH and MHD) are eligible to apply.
These are investment grants on the basis of fixed funding amounts. The oil spill response equipment and the rapid deployment/multi-purpose tents are funded on a pro rata basis. The funding rate for oil firefighting equipment is 50%, for tents the funding rate is 70%.
Grants are only awarded to municipalities and districts as well as voluntary aid organizations (ASB, BRK, DLRG, JUH and MHD). The other technical requirements can be found in section 4 of the disaster control grant guidelines. These can be found in the "Legal basis" section.
In principle, applications must be submitted to the governments, which also decide on them.
