Procedure details

The Bavarian Center for Family and Social Affairs will, upon your application

  • the existence of a disability and
  • the degree of disability (GdB) and, if applicable, other health features (characteristics) for claiming compensation for disadvantages,

if you have your place of residence, habitual abode or place of work in Bavaria. If the degree of disability is at least 50, you will receive a severely disabled person's pass upon application.

The degree of disability is determined in accordance with the "medical care principles", which are part of the Ordinance on Medical Care (VersMedV). These determinations are usually the prerequisite for disabled people to be able to claim the compensation for disadvantages and rights to which they are entitled.

The severely disabled person's pass will be sent to you directly by the regional office of the Zentrum Bayern Familie und Soziales responsible for you.

You can also apply for your ID card online (see link under "Online procedure") or save the application forms (see "Forms") on your PC, fill them out, print them out and then send them to the regional office of the Bavarian Center for Family and Social Affairs responsible for you.
