Purpose

As part of the "Language creates opportunities" project, the Free State of Bavaria provides financial support to volunteers who teach the German language to people of legal age with a refugee or migrant background.

Object

Funding is provided for voluntary language courses that serve to integrate people of legal age with a refugee or migrant background. In addition, supplementary meeting formats (e.g. handicrafts, sewing), walks and cultural excursions (e.g. city tours, museums) that are closely related to language training are eligible for funding.

Recipients of funding

Volunteers, member institutions of lagfa bayern e. V. and non-profit organizations are eligible to apply.

Eligible costs

The actual material expenses incurred in the course of the language course are eligible for funding, e.g. rental costs for premises, material costs (e.g. textbooks, learning apps, copies, pens, pads, folders, flipcharts, etc.), travel costs. Remuneration for voluntary work is not eligible for funding. Upon application, 20% of the total funding amount applied for (i.e. €20, €40, €60, €80 or €100) is also eligible for funding as recognition for voluntary work. The amount of funding to be documented is reduced accordingly (for €100 to €80, for €200 to €160, for €300 to €240, for €400 to €320, for €500 to €400).

Type and amount

The funding is granted as pro rata financing/capital participation.

The type of funding is project funding.
The funding period covers the entire duration of the project.

Funding is provided for up to 100% of the eligible expenditure, limited to the respective maximum amounts. The maximum funding amounts to €100 (min. 1 participant), €200 (min. 2 participants), €300 (min. 3 participants), €400 (min. 4 participants) or €500 (min. 5 participants). Expenditure that is not eligible for funding must be covered by the grant recipient using their own or third-party funds and may not be included in the expenditure for the measure.

Funding is provided without legal entitlement within the scope of available budget funds. Grant applications may not be approved due to oversubscription of the funding program.

Requirements for the promotion of language courses:

Voluntary course leader,
at least 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 participants (proof by signature lists),
a total of at least 10 (with at least 1 participant), 20 (with at least 2 participants), 30 (with at least 3 participants), 40 (with at least 4 participants) or 50 (with at least 5 participants) teaching units (45 minutes each),
at least 1 lesson per week for 1 to 2 participants or at least 2 lessons per week for 3 or more participants

The application form must be submitted to the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft der Freiwilligen-Agenturen / Freiwilligen-Zentren / Koordinierungszentren in Bayern (lagfa bayern e. V.), which also decides on the application, before the language course begins. Once the application has been received by lagfa bayern e. V. and confirmed in writing, the language course can begin. All necessary materials can be procured in advance from this point onwards. If an advance payment is not possible, a payment of up to 50% of the respective maximum amount can be requested with the application or later - but before completion of the language course. At the end of the course and after lagfa bayern e. V. has checked the expenses applied for, the eligible (remaining) expenses will be reimbursed up to the respective maximum amount. All receipts must be kept, as random checks are carried out.

Proof of use must only be submitted at the request of lagfa bayern e. V.. Payment will then only be made after a positive check.
