Purpose

As part of the "Language creates opportunities" project, the Free State of Bavaria provides financial support to volunteers who teach the German language to people of legal age with a refugee or migrant background.

Object

Funding is provided for volunteer language mentorships and language courses that serve to integrate people of legal age with a refugee or migrant background.

Eligible costs

The actual material expenses incurred in the context of the language sponsorship or language course are eligible for funding, e.g. rental costs for premises, material costs (e.g. textbooks, learning apps, copies, pens, pads, folders, flipcharts, etc.), travel costs. Remuneration for voluntary work is not eligible for funding.

Type and amount

The funding is granted in the form of pro rata financing/capital participation.
The type of funding is project funding.
The funding period covers the entire duration of the project.

Funding is provided for up to 100% of the eligible expenditure, limited to the respective maximum amounts (language sponsorships: €100, language courses: €200 or €500). Expenditure not eligible for funding must be covered by the recipient of the grant from their own or third-party funds and may not be included in the expenditure for the measure.

Funding is provided without legal entitlement within the framework of available budget funds.

Private individuals and associations are eligible to apply.

Requirements for the promotion of language sponsorships:

Requirements for the promotion of language courses:

  • Volunteer course leader,
  • at least 2 or 4 participants (proof by signature list in the first three lessons),
  • a total of at least 50 teaching units (45 minutes each),
  • at least 2 teaching units per week

The application form must be submitted to the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft der Freiwilligen-Agenturen / Freiwilligen-Zentren / Koordinierungszentren in Bayern (lagfa bayern e. V.), which also decides on the application, before the language sponsorship or language course begins. Once the application has been received by lagfa bayern e. V. and confirmed in writing, the language sponsorship or language course can begin. All required materials can be procured in advance from this point onwards. All expenses must then be recorded on the "Verwendungsnachweis" form and submitted to lagfa bayern e. V.. After verification by lagfa bayern e.
