The Free State of Bavaria promotes initiatives to preserve local history and strengthen the awareness of local history and tradition.
The regional culture funding program is intended to promote initiatives to preserve local history throughout Bavaria and to strengthen awareness of local history and tradition.
Funding is provided for innovative individual events and projects that focus on the purpose of preserving local heritage.
A project is considered innovative if it contains a novel, creative or qualitatively different element from the usual standard.
Funding is not available for purely local projects with no supra-regional relevance.
Natural and legal persons with their place of residence, habitual abode or registered office in Bavaria, in particular clubs, municipalities, associations, foundations and private individuals, are eligible to apply for and receive funding.
The following expenses are eligible for funding if they are necessary for the preparation and implementation of the project during the approval period:
Work performed free of charge can be recognized as fictitious expenses under certain conditions:
The work performed must be suitably documented (e.g. by means of timesheets).
In particular, the following are not eligible for funding
The funding is granted as a subsidy.
The type of funding is project funding.
The funding period covers the entire duration of the project.
There is no legal entitlement to funding. Funding is provided in the form of grants in accordance with the budget funds available. The funding rate is up to 30% of the eligible expenditure, unless the outstanding importance justifies a higher funding rate in individual cases due to a special state interest.

Simultaneous funding from the Regional Culture funding program and from the Bavarian State Foundation is generally not permitted.
