Depending on the election or vote, the district administrative authorities are the seat of the electoral bodies at district level. They support the electoral bodies in carrying out their activities.
Electoral bodies are the persons or groups of persons who organize the election and ensure that it is conducted properly. Electoral bodies in European, Bundestag, Landtag and district elections are the electoral officers and electoral committees at constituency, electoral district, Land and federal level. They also include the election supervisors and electoral boards in each constituency or electoral district.
Depending on the election or vote, the district administrative authorities are the seat of the electoral bodies at district level. These are the district or city electoral officers for federal and European elections, constituency officers for state and district elections and voting officers for referendums. The district administrative authority supports the electoral bodies formed by it in the performance of their duties in European, Bundestag, Landtag and district elections.
As legal and technical supervisory authorities, the district administrative authorities also ensure that the elections are properly prepared and carried out by the district municipalities in addition to providing the necessary administrative assistance.
Each political party can submit an election proposal (state list or district election proposal). District election nominations (at constituency level) may also be submitted by individual voters or groups of voters.
The municipal authorities keep a list of eligible voters for each electoral district.
As honorary members of the electoral and postal ballot boards, electoral assistants are responsible for the proper conduct of elections and votes and for determining and establishing the results.
