International cooperation and the cross-border exchange of people and ideas are traditionally part of the Bavarian universities' self-image. In the course of globalization, the demand for university graduates who have acquired intercultural skills through a stay abroad is increasing. Bavarian universities are responding to this development by increasing the internationalization of education.
A stay abroad requires thorough preparation. The first point of contact is the International Office (or student advisory services) at the university where you are studying or - if you are not yet a student - at the nearest university. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Kennedyallee 50, 53175 Bonn, is the central information point and provides detailed information about the possibilities of studying abroad.
Tuition fees are charged in many countries. However, the cost of living in some countries is lower than in Germany.
The International Office or the DAAD can provide information on the funding of stays abroad through scholarships. Applications for funding for study abroad in accordance with the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) must be submitted to the designated offices for training assistance, which also provide information on funding abroad.
