Procedure details

Facilities must be suitable for carrying out practical training. Facilities are deemed suitable if they meet the legal requirements.

There is currently no formal approval procedure in Bavaria; the governments check suitability using a standardized questionnaire in the sense of a basic assessment. In the event of legal violations, the provision of training can be prohibited.

An institution is currently deemed suitable in terms of the basic assessment if the following requirements are met:

  • Practical instruction of at least 10% during each assignment of the practical training period to be completed
  • A general ban on night shifts for trainees without direct supervision
  • Appropriate ratio of trainees to nursing staff at all times
  • Teaching of skills in accordance with the Nursing Professions Act, the Nursing Professions Training and Examination Ordinance (PflAPrV) and Directive 2005/36/EC (Professional Recognition Directive)

The survey form is to be completed by the practical institutions on their own responsibility. Those responsible for the training plan must provide the governments with an overview of all cooperation partners and notify them immediately of any changes.

If, for organizational reasons, the transmission of the survey form by those responsible for the training plan is necessary or desired, the government can be delegated accordingly.

In the event of anomalies or violations of the law, those responsible for the training plan or the nursing schools should contact the responsible government immediately in order to avoid jeopardizing the training objective.
