Research as a statutory task of the universities covers the entire spectrum from basic research to application-oriented projects. Cooperation with the non-university research institutions based in Bavaria as well as numerous medium-sized and large companies is one of the key factors behind Bavaria's favorable economic and technological position in Germany and Europe.
Bavaria's universities continue to be highly attractive and offer a wide range of educational opportunities. The universities train highly qualified young scientists and are successful in national and international competitions for research funding.
