Funding is provided for biannual or annual courses with external speakers to teach folk music in a variety of stylistic and regional forms.
The aim of the funding is to motivate people throughout Bavaria to get to know folk music and to practice it over a longer period of time. In this way, new musical initiatives and group formations are to be stimulated and sustainably introduced, thus strengthening awareness of folk music.
Funding is available for projects that deal with the communication of folk music in various stylistic, regional and, where appropriate, international forms. The term "folk music" is to be seen as open in terms of musical orientation and thus includes traditional forms as well as fusions with other musical styles.
Regular courses in the field of folk music are considered projects. Annual projects of at least 30 hours or half-yearly projects of at least 15 hours are possible. The annual projects are based on the school year, the half-yearly projects on one of the two school semesters. Block systems are permitted in exceptional cases.
Institutions and facilities with state, municipal or private-law sponsorship in the social and educational sector based in Bavaria (e.g. day care centers, elementary schools, secondary schools, adult education centers, retirement homes, educational homes, inclusive, integrative or other social institutions, associations) are eligible to apply and receive funding.
Eligible costs are fees (including travel expenses in accordance with the Bavarian Travel Expenses Act) of speakers from the pool of speakers, insofar as these are necessary for the preparation and implementation of the funded project during the approval period.
