Procedure details

The further training scholarship supports particularly talented and motivated young professionals to develop in their profession, build up new skills and abilities, but also to broaden their horizons with interdisciplinary further training courses

Content of the grant

Participation in challenging measures to acquire professional qualifications such as

  • Specialist courses at various training and educational institutions, agricultural machinery schools, forestry schools, the German Horticultural Training Center in Grünberg, agricultural colleges, teaching and research institutes for animal husbandry,
  • demanding specialist study trips,
  • kitchen seminars (for home economics professions) and
  • demanding guided internships (also abroad).

Preparation for advanced vocational training examinations such as

  • master craftsman,
  • technicians,
  • business economists (higher agricultural college),
  • agricultural specialists,
  • assistants and
  • Business economists for nutrition and supply management (specialist academy).

Participation in demanding educational measures that serve to develop interdisciplinary and general professional and social skills or personal development, such as

  • Language courses (also abroad),
  • rhetoric seminars,
  • personality training,
  • IT seminars and
  • extra-occupational courses of study that build on the scholarship holder's training or professional activity in terms of subject matter/content. However, a prerequisite is that the scholarship holder is also employed with a regular working week of at least 15 hours.

Eligible costs

Funding for a measure is applied for before it begins. If the measure is eligible for funding, grants can be awarded for

  • Costs of the measure
  • travel costs
  • Accommodation costs
  • Necessary work equipment
  • Examination costs
  • IT bonus of 250 euros for the purchase of a computer in the first year of support in connection with a measure.

The admission year always counts as the first funding year - regardless of the specific admission date. The scholarship regularly ends on December 31 of the year after next.

Within the funding period, grants totaling EUR 9,135 can be applied for from the responsible body for eligible further training. This amounts to EUR 3,045 per year - with a personal contribution of 10% per measure. The personal contribution does not reduce the total funding amount of EUR 9,135.

Funding is provided during or after completion of the training measure.

The following requirements must be met in order to be included in the admission procedure. There is no legal entitlement!

  • Young graduates of vocational training who are not yet 25 years old at the start of the sponsorship; in exceptional cases up to 28 years old.
    This includes, for example, a voluntary social year, military service, civilian service, Federal Voluntary Service (BFD), serious illness, parental leave.
  • Graduates should
    • have demonstrated their ability and aptitude in training and work.
    • show a willingness to perform in their profession in the future.
    • be willing to take part in demanding in-service training measures.
    • be employed or registered as a job seeker.
  • Proof of a final vocational examination with an overall grade of 1.9 or better.
  • Proof of particularly successful participation in a supra-regional vocational performance competition (from district decision).

In the next step, the application form (master form) can be completed in the IBS and sent to the government of Lower Bavaria.
