Regional prevention management; coordination and implementation

The prevention managers at the governments are the contact persons for health promotion and prevention in the regions.

In the interests of public health, the health authorities and the State Office for Health and Food Safety provide information on the possibilities of health promotion, prevention and the creation and maintenance of healthy living conditions. They suggest suitable health-promoting, preventive, environmental and socio-medical measures.

The prevention managers at the governments coordinate activities, encourage cooperation, support projects and strengthen local networks.

At government level, they are therefore the central point of contact for the health authorities as lower-level health authorities in the area of prevention and health promotion in their administrative district.

They are involved in overarching, nationwide programs and prevention strategies and ensure that prevention goals are also implemented at regional level. In doing so, they support state initiatives for health promotion and prevention and focus on areas where prevention is particularly urgent or effective.
