The Free State of Bavaria grants subsidies to improve local public transportation.

Funding is available for the acquisition costs, provided that the vehicles and their equipment are suitable for local public transport purposes, but not for facilities for ticket purchase and validation.
The funding is granted in the form of pro rata financing/capital participation.
The type of funding is project funding.
The funding amounts for the individual bus categories and for the additional costs of alternative drive technologies or additional technology components are determined by the Bavarian State Ministry of Housing, Building and Transport and updated as required. For details, please refer to the "Key points for the promotion of "climate buses" within the framework of bus promotion in the Free State of Bavaria.

The applicant must provide credible evidence that it intends to use the new buses to be purchased for at least eight years or for a mileage of 500,000 km for the purpose of the grant.
The subsidized buses must take into account the needs of people with disabilities or mobility impairments and the buses must meet the requirements for upgrading with WLAN.
Public and private transport companies are eligible to apply.
The written application must be submitted to the district government in whose area the transport company has its registered office.
The application form can be downloaded from the homepage of the responsible government. When planning the project, the responsible representatives for the interests of people with disabilities must be consulted in accordance with Art. 18 of the Bavarian Disability Equality Act.
