Master farmers are farmers who think and act like entrepreneurs and who manage their own farms or work as managers in upstream and downstream areas.

A professional qualification as a farmer with two years of agricultural work experience is required. The responsible examination board decides on admission in exceptional cases.
If the master craftsman's examination is taken in conjunction with attendance at an agricultural college/technical college, the period of practical experience is reduced to 18 months.
The application for admission to the master craftsman examination must be submitted to the competent government in written or electronic form using the form provided.
If the application is submitted in connection with attendance at an agricultural school/technical college, the responsible government is determined by the school location; if the application is submitted without attending school, it is determined by the place of residence.
Admission to the master craftsman examination is granted by the government upon application. The responsible examination board evaluates the performance and determines the overall result.
Examination fee: 350 EUR
If costs are incurred for courses to prepare for the examination outside of the technical college lessons, a personal contribution of max. 600 EUR must be made.
