Grants are intended to support private sponsors of school expenses in the financing of textbooks.
Private alternative schools are free to grant free learning materials. Provided that learning materials are granted free of charge in the same way as at public schools, they receive corresponding state funding.
Depending on the type of school, the state grants a lump sum of €12 or €26.67 per pupil and school year, or €18 or €40 for private elementary school, secondary schools and special schools. The grant calculation is based on the official number of pupils in the previous school year.
Private alternative schools that grant free learning materials in the same way as public schools can receive corresponding grants.
The funding bodies of the alternative schools submit the applications to the State Office for Schools by June 1 of each year for the upcoming school year using the form provided.
The State Office for Schools examines the submitted applications and determines the amount of state subsidies for the individual applicants.
If applications are received on time, two-thirds of the grants are paid out to the private school's expenditure providers at the beginning of the school year and the remaining third during the second half of the school year.
