If you are a driving instructor and wish to conduct advanced training seminars for novice drivers or the traffic education components of the driver aptitude seminar, you will need a seminar permit to do so.
If you are a driving instructor and wish to conduct advanced seminars for novice drivers, you will need a seminar license (ASF Seminar License).
The training for ASF seminar instructors consists of a basic course focusing on an introduction to facilitation techniques, followed by a program-specific course covering the content and objectives of an advanced seminar for novice drivers (ASF).
The basic course applies equally to both ASF and FES and, accordingly, need only be taken once. For the subsequent advanced seminar, both driving school owners and driving instructors must hold a seminar license in accordance with § 45 of the Driving Instructor Act (FahrlG).
The seminar license may only be used in conjunction with a driving school license or as part of an employment relationship with a driving school where the owner or responsible manager of the training facility also holds a seminar license.
Every 2 years, you must attend a continuing education course in accordance with § 45(1) of the Driving Instructor Act (FahrlG). There, you must participate in a 1-day continuing education course consisting of at least 8 instructional units of 45 minutes each, during which the content and methods of conducting the seminar are taught.
If you, as a driving instructor, wish to conduct advanced seminars for the traffic education component of the Driver Aptitude Seminar (FES), you must obtain a seminar license (FES Traffic Education Seminar License).
The training for FES seminar leaders aimed at reducing the number of points on a driver’s license at the Federal Motor Transport Authority in Flensburg consists of a basic course, an advanced course, an observation period, and the independent conduct of a traffic education component of the Driver Fitness Seminar.
The basic course applies equally to both ASF and FES and, accordingly, need only be taken once. The advanced course is structured around the content of the traffic education component of the Driver Fitness Seminar.
