Procedure details

In order to practice medicine without a medical license or license to practice medicine, a permit is required in accordance with the Heilpraktikergesetz. Various requirements must be met for this.

The Heilpraktiker license may not be restricted to individual areas. There is an exception for the field of psychotherapy and for the healthcare professions of physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and podiatry.

The applicant must have reached the age of 25 and be able to prove that they have completed at least a primary school education. Furthermore, the following are required for the granting of a non-medical practitioner's license

  • Verification of knowledge and skills by the health administration of the responsible district office or - if district-free cities have their own health department - by the health department of the district-free city
