The purpose of the grant is to support rural districts and towns that compensate for the deficit of a gynecology and obstetrics department at a planned hospital in their area. Overall, the aim is to secure and maintain high-quality obstetric care in hospitals throughout the region
Beneficiaries are administrative districts and independent cities in Bavaria.
The grant is awarded as a subsidy by way of pro rata financing as project funding.
Within the framework of the available budget funds, the rural districts and independent cities receive up to 85% of the amount with which they have fully or partially offset the deficit of a gynecology and obstetrics department located in their area at a planned hospital within the meaning of Art. 5 Para. 2 BayKrG, but no more than one million euros per hospital and financial year, in fulfillment of their obligation to ensure care in accordance with Art. 51 Para. 3 Sentence 1 No. 1 LKrO, Art. 9 Para. 1 Sentence 2 GO.
The prerequisite for funding is a relatively low number of births in conjunction with the status as the main provider in the region.
For further eligibility requirements, see the guidelines under "Legal basis".
The application must be submitted to the Government of Upper Franconia in writing or by e-mail.
The Government of Upper Franconia will decide on the application and issue a provisional grant notification. At the end of the approval period specified in the notification, the applicant must submit proof of use within six months. The proof of use will be checked by the government of Upper Franconia. A final decision is then issued with the final grant amount. Once the decision has become legally binding, the grant amount will be paid out.
The application deadline is September 30 of the following year in which the deficit was incurred.
Deviating from this, applications received by the authority after September 30 to October 31 of the following year in which the deficit of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics arose, together with all necessary evidence and documents, will be considered if and to the extent that the total volume of applications that are justified on the merits and received on time does not exceed the available budget funds.
The order in which applications are received after September 30 to October 31 shall be determined by the date on which the application, together with all the necessary evidence and documents, is received by the granting authority; if several legitimate applications are received at the same time and the total volume of available budget funds is exceeded by considering these applications together, these applications shall be considered within the framework of the budget funds still available in the ratio of the legitimate application amounts to each other.
