Examination requirements

The content of the final examination is based on the training framework plan. The framework training plan and the examination requirements for the individual examination areas can be found in the Ordinance on Vocational Training for Housekeepers (Hauswirtschafterausbildungsverordnung - HaWiAusbV).

The final examination takes place at the end of the vocational training. The time frame is determined by the competent authority.

The final examination covers

  • the skills, knowledge and abilities specified in the general training plan and
  • the subject matter to be taught at the vocational school, insofar as it corresponds to the skills, knowledge and abilities specified in the general training plan.

The final examination takes place in the following examination areas:

  • Planning and implementing domestic care and support services,
  • Creating and marketing domestic products and services,
  • Plan catering in a person-oriented and target group-oriented manner,
  • Assessing, cleaning and maintaining textiles, rooms and the living environment, and
  • Economic and social studies.

Admission to the final examination must be applied for from the responsible government. The government in whose jurisdiction the training company is located, for example, is responsible:

  • for trainees, the location of their training company is decisive
  • for vocational students, the location of the vocational school is decisive
  • for examination candidates attending the one-semester home economics course or taking part in a course to prepare for the final examination in accordance with § 45.2 of the Vocational Training Act (BBiG), the location of the vocational school or course is decisive
  • for examination candidates who are seeking admission on the basis of their practical experience without attending a technical college or participating in a preparatory course, their place of residence is decisive

Furthermore, anyone who has been trained in a vocational school or other vocational training institution is admitted to the final examination if this course of education corresponds to vocational training in a recognized training occupation.
