Procedure details

In order to be recognized as a body for the measurement of radon-222 activity concentration at workplaces, you must meet certain requirements. If these requirements change, you must inform the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) immediately. This includes the following changes in particular:

  • You use different measuring devices than those listed in the application
  • You change the equipment or the procedures used
  • the personnel responsible for the measurement changes
  • the legal form of your organization changes
  • Your organization changes its name

The BfS checks whether your recognition requirements are still fulfilled. If necessary, the BfS may request further evidence from you.
After reviewing your changes, you will receive a notice of change or a letter of confirmation from the BfS.
If the BfS deems measuring equipment and procedures to be unsuitable in the recognition procedure, you may not provide or use them for measurements.

  • You are already recognized as a body for the measurement of radon-222 activity concentration at workplaces.
  • You can provide evidence that the BfS can use to check the suitability of new equipment and other requirements for recognition.
  • The BfS has already found your devices to be suitable and you have proof of a successful suitability test from the BfS.
  • Your proof of changes to the recognition requirements allows an examination by the BfS.

    • Nachweise über den aktuellen Kalibrierstatus
    • neue oder überarbeitete Verfahrensanweisung zum Einsatz des neuen Gerätetyps
    • Nachweise zur Bestimmung des Messwertes zur Ermittlung der mittleren Radon-222-Aktivitätskonzentration
    • Nachweise über technischen und organisatorischen Maßnahmen, zur Sicherung der Qualität der Messungen und zur Verifizierung des Messergebnisses 
    • Nachweise zum Transport, der Lagerung, der Aufstellung und der Handhabung der Messgeräte

    Nachweise sind beispielsweise beschriebene Verfahrens- oder Arbeitsanweisungen.
    Wenn das für die Messung verantwortliche Personal wechselt:

    • Nachweise zur Änderung oder den Änderungen des für die Messung verantwortlichen Personals 

    Für alle anderen Fälle gilt: Im Falle weiterer Änderungen benennt das BfS nach Rücksprache die erforderlichen Nachweise.

If you change or add to measuring devices already in use, you will receive a letter of confirmation after the BfS has checked them.

As a recognized body, you must inform the BfS immediately of any changes.
