Companies, facilities or persons handling other radioactive substances must keep records of the inventory and report this to the competent authority.
This form can be submitted electronically without signature (e.g. via a secure contact form or by e-mail) or in paper form to the responsible authority.
The holder of a license to handle other radioactive substances in accordance with the Radiation Protection Act is obliged to keep records of the extraction, production, acquisition, disposal and whereabouts of radioactive substances and to notify the Bavarian State Office for the Environment (LfU) of the inventory of radioactive substances. The type and activity of the substances, broken down by radionuclides, must also be specified.
"Other radioactive substances" are primarily radioactive substances that are not nuclear fuels. A license in accordance with the Atomic Energy Act is required for handling the latter. Exceptions are small quantities of nuclear fuels, which are considered other radioactive substances under certain conditions.
You are the holder of a license to handle other radioactive substances in accordance with the Radiation Protection Act.
The following documents must be submitted:
For delivery as radioactive waste to the Bavarian collection point for radioactive materials: Application and consignment bill as well as the accompanying sheet from the Bavarian state collection point
The notification of the inventory of radioactive substances must be submitted to the LfU.
The notification can be submitted informally via the notification assistant for the inventory of radioactive substances (see "Online procedure").
The LfU checks the completeness of the documents and, if necessary, requests the submission of missing documents within a reasonable period of time.
The notification should follow the following format:
The information must be provided broken down by radionuclide, whereby the acquisition and disposal of open radioactive substances can be summarized on a monthly basis.
The inventory at the beginning of the reporting period must be submitted including radioactive waste.
The disposal includes information on the further fate (transfer to third parties for further use, use on humans, disposal as radioactive waste, disposal after clearance, disposal as inactive waste in accordance with disposal instructions, disposal by air and/or water). Irrespective of the release of radioactive substances, information on exhaust air or waste water quantities is required in any case if technical facilities in which radioactive substances are handled are in use.
As a rule, the waste water quantity can be equated with the quantity of fresh water purchased in a year.
Activity data must be clearly visible in the reports; information on package sizes etc. alone is not sufficient.

The notification of the inventory of other radioactive substances must be submitted to the LfU within one month at the end of the calendar year by January 31 of the following year.
