Only state-recognized test centers for measuring devices for gas, water, heat or electricity may calibrate these measuring devices. Private companies can apply for recognition as a test center.
Upon application, the Bavarian State Office for Weights and Measures may authorize private companies to calibrate measuring instruments for gas, water, heat and electricity for the utility industry in accordance with the Verification Act and the Verification Ordinance.
For this purpose, the company must provide and maintain test rooms, test stands and test center personnel in accordance with the calibration regulations.
In the recognition procedure, the Bavarian State Office for Weights and Measures checks compliance with the requirements. With a certificate of recognition and a final operating license, as well as after public appointment and commitment of the leading test centre personnel, the test centre is authorized to carry out verifications.
The test body must have suitable test rooms, recognized test equipment and competent personnel in accordance with § 43 MessEV.
The Bavarian State Office for Weights and Measures must be applied for recognition as a test center for the performance of verifications.
The Bavarian State Office for Weights and Measures verifies that the requirements are met.
With a certificate of recognition and a final operating license, as well as after public appointment and commitment of the leading test centre personnel, the test centre is authorized to carry out verifications.
The approvals of the inspection bodies that were granted until 31.12.2014 in accordance with the (old) Verification Ordinance have retained their validity until 31.12.2016 at the latest.
All inspection bodies that wish to continue operating in this field must apply for new recognition.
Measuring devices used in commercial transactions (e.g. in trade), in medicine, in occupational safety and environmental protection and by the police must be calibrated.
