Procedure details

According to the Building Documentation Regulation (BauVorlV), the documents required for a building permit application also include an extract from the cadastral map (usually at a scale of 1:1000), which must be certified by the competent (state) office for digitization, Broadband, and Surveying, or retrieved via an automated retrieval process for the purpose of the building application. At the request of the building supervisory authority or the applicant, the proof of submission of building documents must also include proof of parcel and ownership from the OfficialReal Estate Cadastre Information System(ALKIS®) for the building lot and neighboring properties.

The Real Estate Cadastre contains comprehensive information on parcels and buildings in both graphical (cadastral map) and descriptive form.

  • The cadastral map is the graphical component of the Real Estate Cadastre. The cadastral map includes the boundaries and numbers of parcels, buildings (including house numbers), land use types, bodies of water, and selected topographic information, as well as administrative boundaries (district and municipal boundaries, among others) and street names. An extract from the cadastral map is required for the site plan accompanying a building permit application, to verify property boundaries (certificate of boundary compliance), for planning and land use regulation, and for real estate transactions.
  • The cadastral and ownership certificate contains all descriptive elements of the parcel, including owner information and ownership relationships.

You can request the “cadastral extract for building permit applications” from the responsible (state) Office for Digitalization, Broadband, and Surveying or directly from the municipality.
