Public health pests are animals that can transmit pathogens to humans.
The prerequisites for ordering the necessary measures to control pests are
1. identification of health pests and
2. determination that there is a justified risk that pathogens will be spread by them.
Control includes measures to prevent the occurrence, reproduction and spread as well as the destruction of health pests. In the event that citizens discover health pests, it is recommended that they notify the health authorities.
If pests are detected and there is a justified risk that they will spread pathogens, the public health department must order the necessary measures to combat them.
