School supervisory approval is required for the construction of new buildings, conversions and extensions at vocational schools. The governments are responsible for issuing these.
The school supervisory approval establishes that the building program corresponds to the school's needs and covers the necessary space requirements, taking into account the existing building stock.
The school supervisory approval is to be granted if the necessary space requirements for the number of pupils and classes to be expected in the long term - taking into account the existing building - are covered and the proper operation of the school is guaranteed. In the case of conversions and extensions, approval can already be granted if the realization of the planned construction measures will at least improve inadequate school conditions. The application to be submitted by the cost bearer with the participation of the school must be accompanied by documents on the actual catchment area, unless a school district has been legally established for the school, the number of pupils expected in the long term, the space requirements of the school on the basis of §§ 3 and 4 of the School Building Ordinance (Schulbauverordnung - SchulbauV) with information on the function and size of the planned rooms and areas, the existing building and its future use.
The governments are responsible for granting school supervisory approval.
Upon application, the Free State grants subsidies for municipal construction measures on public school buildings and school sports facilities if they have been approved by the school authorities.
Sponsors of private secondary schools, grammar schools, Waldorf schools (from year 5), vocational schools and secondary schools can receive voluntary state grants for necessary construction measures approved by the school authorities.
