The marriage certificate is issued from the marriage register and proves the marriage of the two spouses and provides proof of any new name chosen. Marriage certificates can only be ordered via this online application if the notarization was carried out at the Augsburg registry office or one of the incorporated suburbs (Bergheim, Göggingen, Haunstetten, Inningen) and was notarized in the last 80 years. Documents that were recorded before this period are no longer available at the Augsburg registry office because the registers have been handed over to the city archives, for example.
