Anyone who builds a well or carries out other work that penetrates so deeply into the ground that it could affect the groundwater must inform the Environmental Agency. The obligation to notify is generally the responsibility of the building owner. If the client commissions a drilling company, the latter must inform the Environmental Agency and the notification in accordance with § 49 WHG, Art. 30 BayWG must be received by the City of Augsburg at least one month before the start of drilling. In addition, the State Office for the Environment (LfU) must be notified at least two weeks before drilling begins. If you wish to extract small quantities of water for your own household or for watering your garden from your own well, the City of Augsburg's Civil Engineering Department is responsible.
